Paz de la Huerta is one of the stars of my new favourite show Boardwalk Empire. She is also possibly my biggest celebrity girl crush of the moment. She has an absolutely amazing figure that seems to be popping up everywhere, from full frontals in Boardwalk Empire to raunchy Playboy shoots. Her messy hair, bright red lips and the number of gorgeous black and white photoshoots she's recently starred in all add to her appeal. But I really fell in love with her after her shenanigans at the Golden Globes; Paz enjoyed the free liquor so much she fell over, exposed her breasts and got denied access to the after party! What person get's to say they were turned away from the Chateau Marmont?! If her interview in NY magazine is anything to go by Paz de la Huerta is as controversial as they come, with her filmography including roles as strippers and designer friend Zac Posen even stating he often worries about her. Her shirking of the Hollywood stereotype and her frankness in interviews give the impression that she isn't that different from her Boardwalk Empire character Lucy Danziger. Lucy is the hot - tempered girlfriend of Atlantic City's Treasurer. There's something about Paz's look that really suits the often - glamourised depression and danger of the Prohibition era. Her role is as refreshing as the show is itself, since we've become used to movies dramatising Al Capone's later life it's brilliant to see him and Lucky Luciano as low - level gangsters. Celebrities and designers have also provided a refreshing rework of the roaring twenties, using the glamour of flappers and the evolution of the gangster as inspiration in their clothes. The roaring twenties was conveyed in fashion through the luxurious fabrics, heavy beading and rise of rich colours such as burgundies, navies and golds, which is probably why the decadence of flapper influenced dresses is often called upon for runways and award ceremonies.
