The past few night's we've seen the worst of humanity across the UK; youths who have set alight elderly people's homes, burnt to the ground family businesses that withstood the Blitz and looted lifestyle luxuries as opposed to any pointed necessities, demonstrating these riots are far from a political movement and more acts of sociopathic violence. But, we've also seen the best of humanity across the UK; riot clean up's bringing together entire boroughs, amalgamations of locals keen to protect streets, businesses and the populace of the areas they live in, random acts of human kindness and astounding bravery. After four nights of astonishing behaviour from the underbelly of society what has prevailed in the aftermath is a testament to the human heart and the good in people. Rising like phoenixes from the cinders of these lootings, arsons and senseless crimes are astonishing people; from the vigilantes protecting their families, to the unprecedented sympathetic and systematic reporting displayed on Sangat TV, to the closeness of communities coming out with gloves, dustpans and brushes and brave police officers who have barely slept over the past 72 hours. This week we truly have seen the ugliest side of society but also the most beautiful side. Evidentially some deep-rooted grievances have emerged and the UK still has a long way to come but it's warming to know of the love, care and consideration of many when times get tough. So I thought I'd share a little of that love here, keep safe and sound!
