For the past few weeks I've been constantly listening to Jade Williams aka Sunday Girl, maybe because her hair is almost as thick and glossy as Kate Middleton's, maybe because nobody can quite rock a fur hat like she can (see Snowbombing documentary) or maybe just because her beautiful, raw and melodic voice makes pretty addictive listening. Her acoustic covers of MGMT, Kesha and Rihanna all offer new softer, possibly even more heartfelt takes on the songs. Whilst her own tracks have been remixed by the likes of Diplo and Jim Eliott, for a girl who was once scared of singing in front of people she's not doing too badly, now amassing over a 150,000 hits on Youtube and gracing the pages of Mixmag. And on top of all that she always looks stunning, Jade describes her style as 'scruffy Chanel' in an Guardian interview and references Edie Sedgwick as style inspiration. On tour she's been spotted rocking everything from double denim, to socks and sandals, to leather shorts, to the colour blocking trend quoting Zara and H&M as high street store favourites. Whilst she cemented her stakes in the high fashion world with several appearances at Fashion Week and fashion house D&G's parties. Not bad for a 21 year old! Plus she's a bit of a blog fan, stating that she really admires Tavi Gevinson in a recent interview. I think it's undoubtable that Sunday Girl is going to be topping the charts with her lyrical pop synth and topping the best dressed lists too asap.
